Texas Based Leadership Coach - Dr. Benjamin Ritter
“The most important leader is the one that lives inside you. It was time to stop being the victim of my career, and take control.”
Dr. Benjamin Ritter, leadership coach focused on career development and fulfillment is based in Austin, Texas - this is part of his story:
Part I: Coaching Myself
During his undergraduate years, Dr. Ritter was lost personally, professionally, and socially. He had set his sights on a singular goal, only to realize that this tunnel vision cost him his sense of fulfillment, health, and relationships. Realizing he was missing balance, he began a journey of self-improvement—diving into interpersonal development, mental health, and social psychology.
The next four years became a transformative period of learning and growth. He immersed himself in research, introspection, and graduate studies while challenging himself to adapt to new environments and social situations. During this time, Dr. Ritter essentially became his own coach, testing his comfort zones and honing skills that would eventually shape his leadership philosophy.
Part II: Turning Points
After graduate school, Dr. Ritter set out to make an impact through health policy work but faced constant setbacks due to job cancellations and funding issues. These experiences led him to unexpected coaching roles, including running a nationwide dating coaching program and co-founding a coaching business. He received a grant for life coaching public health professionals and gained a full-time role in hospital administration—positions that weren’t planned but provided invaluable insights.
These experiences deepened his understanding of coaching and built a foundation that he would later draw upon to create LFY Consulting.
Part III: My Eureka Moment
Years later, Dr. Ritter found himself in a senior healthcare role that, despite the executive title, left him feeling disconnected. At the same time, he felt out of alignment with his coaching business. Though he had grown in confidence and social skills, he sensed something was missing. This realization led him to reexamine his career path, ultimately deciding to pursue work that truly reflected his values and desire for impact.
On his daily walk to work, he often observed others with the same unfulfilled expressions he wore. He realized he, like many others, had not fully chosen a career that brought meaning and satisfaction. Recognizing he had spent too long over-investing in paths that didn’t align with his true purpose, Dr. Ritter committed to making a change—not only for himself but also to help others who might be facing similar struggles.
Part IV: The Conclusion and New Beginning
Dr. Ritter chose to pursue a career centered on his values, focused on helping leaders find clarity, confidence, and control in their own lives. While working as a disengaged healthcare executive, he pursued a doctorate in Organizational Leadership, studying how people learn and how leaders are developed. Out of this research emerged The LIVE System© and The Three C’s of Self-Leadership©—structured programs designed to guide leaders toward personal and professional fulfillment.
These programs are based on the belief that coaching should be lifelong and adaptive - systems that clients can rely on for consistent guidance. Today, LFY Consulting serves values-driven Texas based senior leaders, entrepreneurs, and intrapreneurs who seek more meaning and purpose in their careers.
